OVERVIEW /
Morgan Vien works with organizations and leaders designing sustainable and thoughtful human experiences through liberatory design, emergent strategy, and futures thinking methodologies. She is also the co-founder of Design for Emergence where she collaborates with other designers and strategists to solve complex problems.
CHALLENGE /
Morgan was looking to update her personal website so it acted like a lily pad, holding all of the things she does as a designer and strategist. After spending a long while trying to figure things out on her own, she realized she needed to look for help in bringing it to life so that it communicated her work and passion behind what she does while also bringing in a little bit of magic and joy to it.

APPROACH /
Discovering her brand archetypes—Magician and Realist—felt both affirming and energizing, setting the tone for a brand that could hold both depth and clarity. We leaned fully into this duality with a vibrant purple-led color palette and subtle gradients in the custom iconography to represent the various layers of her work.
We highlighted her values with playful, hand-drawn doodles and intentional photography that brought her personality forward.
Morgan wanted to keep things simple and purposeful, so we designed a streamlined website that clearly communicates the heart of her work without unnecessary noise.

I wanted to have a firmer landing space to feel like me. It's really hard to do that for yourself. After spending about a year trying to tinker around, I knew I needed to invest in this part. I wanted the relief and the care you feel when someone else has your best interest in mind.
Before I had even spoken with Donají, I felt that whatever she was building and doing in the world and what she were putting out there to reflect back to people really worked for me.
I wanted some some magic built that I wasn't able to do myself. I wanted some zazz about it. Like, we can do really gnarly hard change shit from a place of joy and accountability. That's what I really wanted with my brand. Now, this feels like putting a storefront out that is mine and just mine. What it creates for me is not only excitement but I actually feel relieved that it's done. I feel relief—like a weight is lifted. Having a beautiful, functional website that is well branded, helps people go, “oh, I'm in good hands” and I know that I can create that.
I just appreciate the surprise and wonder that emerges when someone reflects your brand back to you. I was stuck in some loop—I wouldn't have been able to get there on my own. So it feels fun, expansive, impactful, and also clear.
Donají did a nice job of holding the process. She was super professional, super responsive and joyful to work with. I love that sense of awe. Every time she unveiled something, it felt like an advent calendar of a website. It was just great.
